“good hair stylist in my neighborhood”

I have been searching for years for a good hair stylist in my neighborhood – someone with experience, someone who can not just give a good hair cut but someone who can look at the shape of my face, the texture of my hair and help me make a good decision regarding what will look best on me… and a style that suits my taste.

Well, I found her – her name is “Esperanza” and she’s the owner of Center Beauty Salon and Barber Shop.
She is not your typical “Too Hip For Words” stylist that’s all show and not much in the skills department – No! She’s very proficient in her cutting and styling methods and she’ll listen to your request and let you know if she thinks she can achieve (with your hair type) the style you’d like. She worked for years in swanky, chic salons of Los Angeles until she relocated to Chula Vista and opened her own shop.

Her shop is tucked away on Center Street off 3rd Avenue… Don’t expect it to be a trendy little shop like you’d find in Hillcrest – but it’s very clean and she and the other women that work there aim to please. Think quality, think service, think satisfaction… not flash, bells and whistles.

You might just be pleasantly surprised – I definitely was. I have spent lots of dough on swanky venues and gotten little for my time and money.

I visited Center Beauty Salon several times, watched Esperanza work on the different women’s hair, looked through various style mags and talked with Esperanza on several occasions to discuss what I was looking for and what my concerns were (I have very fussy hair!! It’s really Thick and Curly) and after several visits I decided to take a chance on letting her cut my curly mane… and I’m so glad I did – Besides, it would always grow back right!!!??

I now have a great new stylist in my neighborhood, a great hair cut and a new style and I no longer have to travel up to Mira Mesa or Hillcrest to get quality service at a great price.
